Training and development.
For the last 100 years or more, BMW has been synonymous with sheer driving pleasure, sustainable innovation and a passion for forward-looking mobility solutions – across the globe.
We know that our success depends on our employees’ commitment and on their desire to deliver peak performance. We rethink the old and recognise new chances and opportunities to make a valuable contribution and actively shape the future of mobility. That’s why we encourage and expect personal responsibility and growth – and offer exciting employment opportunities in an inspiring and stimulating environment. We show our appreciation for every achievement, not least through a wide range of benefits.
When it comes to young talent, we provide the vocational training they need so that our company has all the skills it requires. We are currently opening up future prospects for 4,960 trainees at 19 locations worldwide. From vocational training in some 30 professions to a choice of 20 different dual-study courses, there’s an exciting array of training and professional opportunities on offer for young people at the BMW Group.
The BMW Group Academy provides over a million training options a year – worldwide. It develops and delivers courses in every area of expertise within the BMW Group, from e-mobility and data analytics to predictive maintenance and language courses. In doing so, it has made us a fundamental enabler for the major transformation of the automotive industry.
Talent management.
At the BMW Group, the long-term development of talent is one of our top priorities. That’s why we offer our employees a range of career and development opportunities.
We run a variety of vocational training designed to attract talented young people to work in electronics, automation, IT and e-mobility within our company. These courses are available for about 30 professions, and we also offer 20 dual-study courses with a focus on STEM subjects.
At the BMW Group, our programmes for young people ensure a secure supply of top talent in various areas of expertise that are critical for the future of our company. Our portfolio is directed at Master’s students, graduates and young professionals. The PhD programme ProMotion invites doctoral students to write their theses with the BMW Group’s support. Our global AcceleratiON programme for trainees helps us recruit and develop talented young people with leadership potential. And our FastLane programme offers a wide range of opportunities for skills development for Master’s students in STEM subjects.
Working environment.
From collaboration and agile teams to the widespread use of the latest IT tools and new spheres of work – the BMW Group brings together the best of many worlds in a variety of areas of work.
We think it’s important for workplaces to be not only attractive but also conveniently located. That’s why our offices are centrally located and there’s a well-developed infrastructure around our plants. Whether for drivers, public transport users or our own plant commuter buses, every one of our sites offers excellent transport connections so, when the day’s work is done, it’s easy for people to get home or to the city centre, thanks to the rapid, flexible transport options.

Health.
Keeping our employees fit and healthy is a matter particularly close to our hearts. That’s why we make sure they have the health-friendly workplaces they need. We also support employees who take personal responsibility for keeping themselves healthy and productive for as long as possible, with holistic health management available to all our staff. Our Health Initiative regularly raises awareness and sensitises employees to issues such as diet, exercise, mental health and addiction prevention, with a special focus on campaign work, in-house fitness centres, regular awareness days, dialogue events and training courses.
Plus, we operate to extremely high occupational health and safety standards. Often these even exceed what is legally required for the respective location. But for us, that goes without saying.
Employee Engagement.
Social engagement is an integral part of what many BMW Group employees stand for. They take the challenges facing our society seriously and do their part by volunteering outside working hours and entirely on their own initiative. Their activities are diverse and range from ad hoc team activities on what we call Social Days to working on certain longer-term projects, to which they sometimes contribute their professional skills and even develop social enterprise ideas.

CULTURAL INITIATIVES.
CULTURAL INITIATIVES.
The first ever band at BMW was the Dixi Drivers, founded in 1983 by the clarinettist Werner Grün. They were named after the first ever BMW – the DIXI – and play Dixieland and blues for everyone’s delight. Since 1996 the BMW Chamber Orchestra has been bringing joy to audiences at plants and beyond. There are also many other employee initiatives in the field of culture, from music to performing arts.
