Drive Sustainability is an initiative of automotive manufacturers who are jointly committed to improving sustainability in the automotive supply chain. The BMW Group has been involved since 2012, and we apply the standardised online assessment we initiated in 2014 to our suppliers. The procedure – and the compliance process behind it – evaluates their organisational compliance with international provisions and standards as well as their internal guidelines and targets along the supply chain. In addition, Drive Sustainability organises regular training courses in different countries around the world to help empower suppliers. The training course tackles topics from the fields of social and environmental sustainability, business conduct and compliance, and supplier management. The content is based on the global guiding principles for sustainability in the automotive industry but tailored to meet the requirements of the country hosting the course. The idea is for local legislation, best practices and real-world examples to provide sustainable solutions and ideas for participants.
