Gain practical experience.
Opening the door to the BMW Group and your career success.
Many students spend time with us to get a taste of working life and, as part of an internship, discover a lot about people, technology, processes and corporate culture.
These are key requirements for your success in the workplace. Practical experience is, after all, a prerequisite for a successful application. Students who wish to participate in our Master's programme, FastLane, should also have acquired practical experience with us.
Interns on the BMW Group.
Depending on your degree course, you can complete internships in a variety of fields. Through involvement in ongoing projects, you are able to gain valuable specialist expertise and hands-on project experience – in development and production, administration, purchasing, sales and marketing, human resources, press and public relations or finance. We will agree on personal performance targets with you and meet on a regular basis to give you feedback on your personal development.
Duration of the internship.
The longer you stay, the more involved you can become in interesting topics and the more you are able to develop valuable skills. Four to six months is ideal. Most of our internships are therefore posted for six months, on a full-time basis. A small number of short-term and part-time internships are also available. Candidates should allow at least two months for their internship. It is also possible to combine required and voluntary internships or an internship and a final thesis. The duration of a required internship is always geared towards the time period specified in your study regulations.
Do you plan to study engineering? Or have you already started the first part of your degree? Depending on your study guidelines, six to ten weeks is the ideal length for a required technical pre-degree internship. For the timing of your industrial internship, we are happy to comply with the requirements laid down in your examination rules.
Students who are enrolled at a university or a university of applied sciences or students who are currently between their bachelors and master studies, are eligible. When you apply for a technical pre-degree internship, please submit the examination rules of your preferred degree course. It is always worth submitting a speculative application for an internship via our online tool, the Job Assistant. Your application should reach us four months before the desired start date. All current internship vacancies in the various business sectors and locations can be found in our online job market for students.
Have you always wanted to live abroad, expand your horizons, get to know a different culture, gain new experiences? If so, a foreign assignment is the right thing for you. Jobs for students.
The BMW Group is always looking to maintain dialogue with teaching and research institutions. The best example of this is our collaboration with the Technical University of Munich (TUM). This is where technology students are also taught business skills (TUM Business Administration), whilst business students are given an insight into technology. The BMW Group is also keen to promote entrepreneurship in the university environment, such as with the 'UnternehmerTUM' or 'mentorING' programmes.
'UnternehmerTUM' ('entrepreneurship') is the centre for entrepreneurship at the Technical University of Munich. It supports contact between universities and industry and helps students and researchers to gain additional professional qualifications.
The BMW Group works closely with the 'UnternehmerTUM' initiative. The core of the collaboration includes the 'Manage&More' programme. It prepares highly-qualified students and doctoral candidates from the TU Munich for future management positions in 18 months. BMW Group managers personally mentor the scholarship students and get involved in the 'Manage&More' innovation projects.
Every semester, 20 students or doctoral candidates are selected to take part in the support programme.
You can find additional information on 'UnternehmerTUM' on the centre's official homepage. You can also apply online for 'Manage&More' there. The closing date for applications is every February and July.

As part of the TU Munich mentorING programme, the BMW Group is committed to the advancement of women in male-dominated professions and actively supports women pursuing engineering careers.
mentorING gives female students in the natural or technical sciences faculty of TUM the opportunity to receive support from both male and female mentors at the BMW Group. They will provide guidance on your professional and personal development and individual support. Mentor and mentee will meet every four to six weeks for one year.
A number of events will be organised for participants as part of the programme. These are designed, among other things, to support the students and mentors in their collaboration. Other events provide information and training on various topics in professional life.
The mentee will have an exciting dual role in mentorING: six months after entering the programme as a mentee, she will also become a mentor for pupils at Munich high schools.
Excellent academic performance is a prerequisite for participation in mentorING.
