ChargeNow provides easy access for anyone to the world’s largest network of public chargepoints – with one contract for all ChargeNow partner stations.


Charging stations operated by various providers in the ChargeNow network are displayed in the onboard navigation system, or via the BMW/MINI Connected app or the ChargeNow app – making it easy to locate public chargepoints quickly. The ChargeNow card is used for activation and cashless payment, with a detailed monthly statement providing an overview of fees.

2018 BMW Digital Charging Service optimises charging and integrates electric vehicles into the energy market.

ChargeNow is now successfully operated by the 100% BMW subsidiary ‘Digital Charging Solutions GmbH’, which was founded in 2017. DCS left the BMW ecosystem in 2018 and is partnering with various automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to provide innovative solutions for charging electric vehicles. The DCS service provides access to multiple electric charging networks and enables electric vehicles to find, use and pay for public charging in an easy and seamless way.

2016 ChargeNow launch in Japan.

ChargeNow was launched in Japan in October 2016, where it offers a nationwide network of more than 9,758 chargepoints.

2015 ChargeNow launch in China.

On 7 September 2015, ChargeNow was launched in Beijing, in partnership with energy provider Potevio, to expand the service to China.

ChargeNow introduced an international roaming service for customers in Germany, Austria, Netherlands, Belgium, France and Switzerland in mid-2014. This means that customers from Germany can easily use their ChargeNow card across the border in Austria, for example.

2013 First charging station joins ChargeNow.

The charging stations of the UK’s largest charging network, ChargeMaster, joined the ChargeNow partner network on 19 March 2013. By November of the same year, to coincide with the launch of the BMW i3, ChargeNow charging stations were available in 14 markets.
