The profession of insurance broker is one of the classic commercial careers with the emphasis on the following activities: customer acquisition, servicing and advising customers, recording and advance clarification of losses and benefit cases, processing of insurance applications and changes to policies, supervision and drawing up of premium calculations and receipt of payments, drawing up statistics, handling and settling losses, ascertaining losses, verification of liability and cover, calculation of and advice on insurance services.
The concept of the profession was reorganised in 1996. The aims of this reorganisation were greater emphasis on sales and customer orientation, increased flexibility and greater job opportunities as a result of multi-disciplinary training, greater promotion of business skills and independent planning, execution and controlling of working procedures.

Requirements.
- Enjoy working with others in a team; be flexible and have an ability to think both analytically and in the abstract; have an interest in EDP, figures and finance
- The ability to express yourself clearly, concisely and accurately orally and in writing; you should be customer orientated; have a systematic approach, i.e. to carry out risk analyses or establish contact with customers
- You should enjoy problem solving and devising approaches that meet the needs and financial circumstances of the customer
- Well-groomed appearance; confident and assured manner in handling people and superior negotiating skills
- Mittlere Reife, Abitur
