The profession of bodyshell and vehicle construction mechanic has many different aspects - ranging from routine damage assessments through to the exhilarating task of prototype construction. The job entails the manufacture and reassembly of bodyshell, vehicle frames and assemblies for cars, trade and specialised vehicles.
Bodyshell and vehicle construction mechanics work with a wide range of materials such as steel, aluminium, plastic, glass etc.. The technical skills required include tightening, compression, stretching, driving and bending of metal panels as well as hammering-out, alignment, welding, measuring and paintwork for accident damage repairs.
The installation and removal of components is also required as well as a basic knowledge of vehicle electrical systems, hydraulics and pneumatics. The skilled restoration of old-timers is also included in the job profile of a bodyshell and vehicle construction mechanic.
We also offer this course with a support programme to supplement training.
