Connected Drive

Thanks to the innovative expertise of engineers at the BMW Group, rapid progress is being made in "connecting" the automobile with its environment and daily traffic situations. A unique range of innovative functions that connect the driver, the vehicle and the environment with each other are known as ConnectedDrive from the BMW Group.

BMW ConnectedDrive offers customers options and solutions that can be ordered for all BMW models, from the 1 Series to the 7 Series, in selected markets around the world. Connectivity to web servers, Real-Time Traffic Information in combination with a networked navigation system, the integration of vehicle-specific apps with mobile end devices, the BMW Head-Up Display or the Emergency Call function – these and other features of BMW ConnectedDrive offer drivers everywhere a host of incomparable mobility services.
The consolidation of onboard (services in the vehicle) and offboard contents (information that is computed externally and sent to the vehicle as needed) is progressing at a rapid pace in the automotive segment. The automobile is actually becoming a mobile Internet exchange point. The software required for the man-machine interface is developed internally by the software engineers of the BMW Group.

The driver is always the focus of attention at the BMW Group. Developers are working intensively on solutions that satisfy the wishes and demands of drivers that will have an impact on the cars of today and tomorrow. All of the functions now available are consistently focused on three objectives: improving comfort and convenience, offering new dimensions for the infotainment experience and ensuring optimal safety for drivers and passengers.
