Understanding mobility and how to deal with traffic represent a great challenge for the development of future vehicles: because the mobility of the future demands a balance between global requirements and individual needs. There is great demand for new solutions for sustainable and individual mobility. BMW Group is developing solutions for opening up new opportunities and responding to changing customer demands.  Sustainable and individual mobility   project i. project i is an initiative launched at the end of 2007 with the task of spearheading the development of sustainable, ground-breaking mobility concepts at BMW Group. The long-term goal is the further development of the entire company with new impulses and concrete projects in the areas of production, development and sales.   Traffic management. Controlling the increasing volume of traffic is a challenge, especially in large metropolitan areas. BMW Group is making its contribution to the development and implementation of innovative traffic management solutions not only in joint projects with the public sector, business and industry associations. It is also involved in mobility services.   Traffic technology. Where does precise and reliable traffic information come from? How can this information be put to use? And how can car drivers be informed of dangers and congestion in order to avoid them? The traffic technology experts at BMW Group are working on these and similar issues.   Institute for Mobility Research. “ifmo” focuses on issues and challenges of the future and of mobility in an interdisciplinary context.
