Jointly Learning from Diversity. At the heart of the LIFE concept, developed by the BMW Group in close collaboration with the Bavarian State Institute for School Assessment and Educational Research (ISB), is the inherent contradiction between everyday encounters with "foreigners" and the simultaneous perception of them as being distinctly different. LIFE aims to promote the development and international propagation of intercultural learning and thus resolve this contradiction through willingness to get to know foreign ways. In this context, cultural and linguistic differences are not perceived as a barrier to understanding, but rather as an enrichment. And the "positive" confrontation with other languages and cultures broadens individual perspectives and helps the target groups to shake off ingrained patterns of behaviour and thinking.
Collection of ideas and materials about intercultural learning. The fundamental work "LIFE " is a collection of theoretical as well as practical ideas and materials on the subject of intercultural learning. Added to regularly, the LIFE idea and material collection always reflects the latest status of research and practice in this field. Selected contributions by international scientists and educators provide a uniform and practical presentation of the subject from a variety of perspectives. The basis for the LIFE concept was the international curriculum for intercultural learning developed by the ISB.
Due to the positive feedback and a high demand the materials are being revised at the moment and will shortly be available free of charge for download or on DVD. As soon as the material becomes available, you will find here all the necessary information. |

The focus is on communication and use of language in the Internet. The CD-ROM gives children and teens the language skills they need to actively initiate and maintain personal contacts and intercultural exchanges.
