BMW Group receives three awards at once for sustainability
The SAM Group presented the 2008 Sustainability Yearbook at the World Economic Forum in Davos. This comprehensive reference book, which assesses exchange-listed companies according to their economic, ecological and societal success, only lists the top 15% from 57 sectors of industry. In this evaluation, the BMW Group was outstanding in three top categories at once: Sector Leader, Gold Class and Sector Mover. That means that the BMW Group is the leading company in the automobile industry when it comes to sustainability (SAM Sector Leader), achieved over 75% of possible points in the rating (SAM Gold Class) and made the greatest progress in the industry last year (SAM Sector Mover).
Since 1999, SAM has rated over 1,000 companies a year from 57 industrial sectors using company-specific sustainability criteria. It seeks out those companies which deal more efficiently and successfully then their competitors with the risks and opportunities arising in connection with economic, ecological and social developments and challenges. SAM, which is based in Switzerland, is the leading asset management company for sustainability investments and has launched together with Dow Jones Indexes and STOXX the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes group.
